Monty python live (mostly) review

I was watching monty python last night and all the reviews from the daily mail and various other newspapers. I thought it was going to be rubbish but it was the complete opposite it was utterly amazing. It was what the fans wanted they wanted all of the old sketches from the original monty python flying circus series to be re done by the 5 of the remaining members of the pythons. They honoured graham chapman with serious and gentle humour. A lot of the things that the daily mail was saying was there was no new material or sketches. And i'm being completely honest i haven't seen all of the flying circus series so are lots of the scenarios and sketches that was portrayed by the remaining members that i haven't actully scene so i was seeing the fish slap it was the first time hearing i like chinese and the lumberjack songs.

The show is called monty python live and in brackets it says mostly which is actully true most of the time you were seeing cartoons to help the transition between their live sketches. As they are getting old now, being mainly 70 years old, it probably did take them ages to change costumes and set up the new stage set.

The prices for the tickets were 105 pounds, which is quite a lot for a show but it was definitely worth it, like me and my family for tickets. My uncle mike, uncle Steve, aunty donna all drove from the north west to Essex to arrive at your family down south, Karen and mike, who both had tickets so driving down there. So overall, the petrol money, the ticket price, the train fair and the added cost of buying merchandise and drinks and the o2 arena. It was quite pricy for a weekend but to see the comedy giants and still are remembered by a number of people and yet they haven't done anything for over 30 years. Remember when Alfred Hitchcock changed the way we look at films, with its story telling techniques and exposition. Same with rockstar and the open world sandbox game, they basically invented the genre and the same goes for Monty python. Monty python will always be remember for being silly and being the greatest comedy acts known to man

Transendence Review

Eventually i got round to watching this film. I saw it advertised when i went watching Godzilla a few months back and i've been wanting to watch it ever since that trailer.

Transedence features Johnny Depp as a neural scienctist, head of Computer Lab company trying to push their way and try to improve the quality of life of citizens and humanity in itself. Using research that they've found from monkeys, they've been able to encode the brain on the monkey into a computer called PINN. Using this concept, Johnny Depp goes on Stage to present his breakthrough PINN and research that follows. and for humanity creating a person/Soul that controls everything that we do through technology. A person asks johnny depp a question whilst he's out on stage asking 'if he's making a God' That same person goes up to him after the conference and shoots him. He goes to hospital gets the bullet removed. later he finds out that the bullet was coated in a radioactive material that slowly kills him. Using the technology that they've learnt from the monkey and uploading it to the company. they've decided to upload his personality and his profile to the machine just to keep him alive. with that only being the intension. well he starts invading peoples computers collecting information.

I loved the concept from the trailers and i liked the film but it wasn't that great, i was always expecting something big to happen but everything had a steady pace and there wasn't a visible change to how things were progressing or drama.

To be honest, it wasn't that good, it was just a movie trailer that got me excited but sadly the film didn't deliver, if you're not interested in computers you won't be interested into this film at all. and i wouldn't even say give it a watch, i'd say don't even download it. that's just my personal opinion. 5/10

Oculus movie review

I went to watch oculus film and no not the oculus rift. Its the latest horror film to hit the pictures and its not actually too bad.
I've gone into the film expecting a lot of jump scares and a lot of freights but there was absolutely none. The film was actually story based horror which you don't normally see with the likes of woman in black, sinister, insidious etc. The way that horror films have gone lately happened because paranormal activity. The film only cost 10 grand to produce and yet it made over 150 million at the box office and I'll admit at the time of this review, I still haven't seen paranormal activity. I've been told by numerous to watch it but at this point its over hyped.

On a unrelated note, I watched frozen a few weeks ago with my niece and due to everyone over-rating it, saying its amazing, its the most watched and the highest earning animated film of all time. Sadly passing toy story 3. If I watched frozen before anyone got their chance, maybe I would have loved it too but due to what I built it up in my head, it just didn't live up to that expectation.

Oculus without giving anything away, its about a mirror that people have acquired throughout the 18th century and all the owners of that mirror or the families that have owned it have all died in mysterious ways. Sometimes its just being brutally murdered by one of the family members or dying of dehydration whilst taking a bath.

There's only one noticeable actress and that's Karen Gillian. A woman that has recently come into limelight due to doctor who and it seems that her career to going to push beyond the television screen with her performance in oculus.

The film is actually unique in the way it tells the narrative. In order for me explain the way they tell it, I'll have to explain the main plot. Two kids, girl and a boy. The family move houses and aquire a mirror and the dad has the movers place the mirror in his office. Events take care in the house that causes the boy to go into a mental hospital. As the film is constantly switching between the future and the past events. Thats where it gets confusing because sometimes you can't distinguish which is the future and which is the past.

I'll rate it 7/10. I'm knocking it down some points because the trailer advertises the film as a jump scare type of film. Sure they're are some scary moments but that's only because the eyes of the people that have been killed by the mirror have been replaced with sliver balls. And don't worry its not at all related to the oculus rift

The Quiet ones Review

I went watching the quiet ones at the pictures a few weeks ago and it was one of them where you're bored and the cinemas is close by so we just decided to go the pictures to waste a few hours of time.

Well We watched the quiet ones and it wasn't even a happy waste of time. Me and my friend went on Cheap tuesday which is half the price for all ages going down to 3 Pound per person. And i can tell you that it wasn't even worth 3 pound. It was utterly awful. If i had to describe the quiet ones in one word, that word would be generic. Seriously. A professor discovers a strange girl with an act of terror wherever she goes and basically the professor goes to try and discover what's wrong with her. He finds out there's something possessing her so he then buys equipment to try and get whatever is possessing her out of her. They go into a remote house that's secluded from the city of london. They continue to experiment on the girl and each time, it becomes obvious that there's something in her by the signs that happen around the house.

I really recommend not watching the film, i actually never fell asleep during the film and i haven't fallen asleep to a film since The men who stare at goats. and for a horror movie when it goes quieter and quieter and then suddenly there's a burst of sound, i was never effected by the volume boost. My friend said it was average and scary at some bits but he was also scared of sinister which was just not another generic horror movie but you could actually see the jump scares coming from a mile away.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS FILM. IT'S AWFUL!!!

The Amazing Spiderman 2 Review

The amazing spiderMan 2 was released 16th of April 2014 in the UK. Me and my friends went watching that day. They're spoilers in this review and i will obviously state what's a spoiler.

For those who are fans of the series, has soon as you hear the name max, you'll suddenly work out that he's the enemy of the story played by Jamie Foxx.
The story isn't that great, it's just another generic story to show off the special effects of what the Amazing spiderman team can do. The first amazing spiderman, didn't really give you a chance to see what they could achieve with special effect trickery.
The Actor Jamie Foxx fits the roll perfectly from a Django Unchained Standpoint but early on in the story they made him a weak and pathetic character who loved spidey. Spiderman is constantly being looked at as the hero of the city because he obviously is, he's always saving the city from complete destruction on numerous occasions.
Electro (played by Jamie Foxx) Stands in the middle of Timesquare and sucks the electricity from the power lines. Nobody else notices what's going on except from the Policeman, which seems a bit odd. even if somebody just knelled down on the floor and opened up the powergrid. Somebody other thann the police man would have noticed something up.  After that scene, All the police have surrounded him and have got their guns pointing at him ready to shot and the news reporter just so happens to be on timesquare and directs his attention towards electro until spidey comes in and steals his spot in the spotlight. Electro was loving the attention he was getting and once spidey stole it, electro went jealous and start causing destruction. For me that wasn't a big enough reason to turn on spidey even though electro loved him (creepy loved him) before he got powers.

From the special effects standpoint, it's possibly the best special effects i've ever seen. like literally and there's one of the scenes which shouted out to me to be the best use of special effects in any film. There's a scene where electro has shut off all the power of the entire city by cutting off the main power line. As spiderman is weaving in and out of the power towers electro is shooting his electronic beams missing spiderman and hitting the power towers, the Music which is a deep style of trombone, plays and i'm a special effects nerd, as i'm into after effects and 3ds max. Somebody who said let's use this and utizle the music with the special effects and that somebody was a genius. Most of the effects that were used in that film were generic and standard effects with simple plug ins that can be manipulated to achieve those shots.

Spoiler.
Throughout the entire film, the film wants you to care for the characters within the story and you don't end up actually caring the spiderman himself, i was sat there thinking get over it and move on because there wasn't actually any moments were i felt that these two were actually in love other than gwen becoming that one that loves too much. Gwen decides to help peter at the final battle against electro and getting the power grid back up and running because apparently she is the only one that knows how to reboot it but yet all she does is push a button at a certain time. From a lengthy slow motion scene of her faliing, well she ends up dying, she didn't hit the fall or anything but she probably just died of whiplash. The amount of times through the spiderman series, somebody hasn't died from whiplash is astonishing but that one moment when it really matters and she dies.

Amazing spiderman 2 wasn't that great but the fanboys won't be happy but for those who are looking for a waste of 2 hours and 20 minutes, you'll be happy. By the way, the film could have been 50 minutes shorter and my honest opinion, it would have been a lot better if it was shorter instead of just making the audience sit there for a lengthy two hours and 20 minutes.
