In my technology and everything in between blog, i mentioned that i've recently watched thor and this is the place for me to do my film reviews so let's do it.
Since i watched the avengers just over two weeks ago, i thought i'd catch up on the other marvel hero films. As i watched the avengers, i realised that i've missed out on some key elements that i missed on why things happened but mainly i missed out on the story and was slightly confused.
Thor was actually a really good film, better than expected actually, it featured a entire city built in 3D which was pretty good and the water effects running through the rainbow roadwas stunning. The massive build up to the gatekeeper wasn't really worth it, they made the gate to another realm a very secure and special place but coming from a 3D animator the entire effect of the gate spinning and spinning until it reached the point of thor and the other members being transferred to another realm felt cheap:-
Create a sphere
Cut some holes out
Modify the geometry
Apply the different maps.
Now when i saw the film was released in 2011, i don't remember there being that many trailers out for it, it's marvel didn't have that much faith in the film and they only put the film into the series to fill in the backstory of Thor and Loki. I don't remember being many trailers for Thor, i remember being many trailers for Iron Man and Captain america: The first avenger but none for Thor... Strange.
If you look at Thor as a stand-alone film, it's disappointing for the entire you're waiting for an epic fight scene between Thor and Loki but it just fails to come, There's a few fight scenes in Thor but they were nothing like the Avengers or Iron Man. The entire reason i watched this film was to pick up on the back story each people's characters in the film, So what they could have done in the avengers was tell a little bit of the back story to Thor.
A few of the people that were in Thor didn't make another apperance in the avengers and it clearly said in the Thor that Thor was going to make another visit to earth just for Natalie Portman's character Jane foster, a few of a farmilar faces returned to the big screen was Erik Selvig and he's the scientist at the beginning of the film where he's testing the cube that gives off massive levels of radiation, well the scientists gets possessed/hyptized by Loki and his staff.
Sorry for the late review but i'll catch up on them soon
